Do you do this when you return home after days away?
First things...
I'm having a farewell sale on most of my online courses and video workshops!
Goodbyes are always bittersweet...but sometimes it's necessary to make room for new things! Half off until November 1st with coupon code OCTOBER!
(psst...while I'm not retiring Sew Clothes You LOVE or Getting to Know Your Sewing Machine, I put them on sale too!)
Musings...
I get home from being away, be it a retreat (like last week's on Mackinac Island) or visiting family and I have this almost crazed urge to purge. I whoosh around de-cluttering and setting things right. Cleaning, barking orders to take care of your things, and in a general state of frenzy.
It's almost like the time away has allowed me to see my home (or business in this case) with fresh eyes and I'm ready to sweep away the old and freshen things up.
And while that's true...it's the frenzied state that leads me to believe that it's more than just fresh eyes. Often the urge is strong after a stressful hospital visit with my Dad or a tense car ride in days gone by.
I'm guessing it's about overwhelm.
The desire to bring my life back down into manageable size takes over my travel weary body and whoosh, I'm tidying. At midnight.
I find so much grace in noticing my patterns and diving into the "what's behind this" of them, rather than the "should nots" of them. The opportunity for more love and to possibly head overwhelm off at the pass is so full of peace and ease.
And if there's anything I want more of in my life, it's peace and contentment.
You know what else brings me peace? Changing my routine and committing to creativity and mindfulness without the pull of responsibilities! (now to marry the adventuring and the coming home with less frenzy!)
Like at the sewing retreat!
I just spent the last week retreating on an island in Lake Huron with 7 other lovely souls and it was simply perfect. Not the weather. That was not perfect.
Unless you consider the fact that 40 degrees F and windy rain IS kind of perfect at keeping us joyfully in our sewing studio, fitting our newly sewn pants and drafting new ideas.
We threw caution to the wind and rain and rode our bikes around the island, sewed for days on end, learned and laughed so very much and could not get enough of one another! It was delightful.
I left inspired to allow myself to get into the journey and create! Mindfully and one-step-at-a-time.
Being away has a way of showing you where you'd like to shift (or declutter ;-) in your life and the retreat is excellent at allowing what's most important to me to flow to the surface.
I have some new ideas brewing and to make space for that I am putting all of my online courses and video workshops on sale!
All but two will be retired on November 1st and so, if you'd like to own them, now is the time.
